Tile is a very popular floor and wall covering today that offers many benefits to you. Tile improves:
Your Home’s Image
Tile comes with a myriad of finishes, colors, sizes, and styles to fit in with any décor you want, from an upscale modern look to an earthy southwestern look. With this flexibility also comes unsightly soiling in the grout lines and textured surfaces of the tile, especially in heavily traveled areas such as in front of stoves, refrigerators, and toilets. I find that soiling on tile and grout sneak up on you, because the change is very subtle and you get used to it. Don’t let it fool you.
Your Home’s Value
Adding a tile floor to your home can significantly increase its potential resale value. Potential buyers will notice a well installed and designed tile floor, and that can add thousands of dollars in potential value of your home to them. Soil that accumulates over time can leave your tile and grout dull and darkened.
Your Home’s Flooring Life Cycle
Ceramic and porcelain tile are some of the longest lasting flooring products on the market today. Unlike carpet, vinyl, or laminate flooring which have to be replaced periodically, properly installed tile will last a lifetime.
Airborne cooking oils, spills, and tracked in soil really build up over time in your grout lines, but because it happens over time, you don’t notice the change. You can try to mop the floor, but you end up pushing dirt into the grout lines. Look at the grout lines in areas where you can’t walk, such as next to the kick plate on your lower cabinets, or in your pantry or small closets you can’t walk in to. You’ll often find a significant difference. You’ll find this especially in front of your stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, and heavily traveled areas.
Rather than pushing the soil into the grout lines, we break the soil loose through applying chemicals designed specifically for tile and grout cleaning, scrubbing the tile and grout lines with a counter rotating brush machine to break loose heavy soils, and extracting the soil and chemical using a hot clean water rinse applied under pressure and vacuuming the resulting soil laden water with our special tile and grout cleaning tool. It never ceases to amaze us the difference we make, even though we know what to expect!
After cleaning, we recommend that you have us apply a grout sealant, which helps to prevent a stain in your grout caused by a spill with a natural or synthetic dye in it. Most grouts are mortar based and are very porous, so things such as red wine and grape juice can penetrate the mortar and leave a permanent stain.
